Brussels

Even though I've traveled to many cities and seen many different architectural styles, I was still deeply awestruck when I arrived at the Grand Place in Brussels. This sense of awe cannot be conveyed through images; it can only be experienced with eyes.

When faced with the intricate details of Gothic architecture, the best approach is with a telephoto lens. The naked eye can barely discern the details at higher elevations, but a super telephoto lens grants you the eye to discover them. Every corner of the building tells a complete story. Because the square is surrounded by buildings on all sides, at any given time of day, some structures will be bathed in beautiful light and shadow.

Besides its classical architecture, Brussels also boasts many unique modern architectural designs, which require exploration. What Brussels needs is an eye for beauty.
